Congenitally Corrected Transposition of the Great Arteries
Definition
The right ventricle is located on the left side and the left ventricle is located on the right side, but the circulation of blood is normal; also called L-transposition
Cardiac Auscultation
- Diastolic murmur at mid-left sternal border
Electrocardiogram
- Absence of left precordial Q waves
Chest X-ray
- Aortic shadow is absent
- "Waterfall" appearance due to abnormal pulmonary artery position
M-Mode
- Limited
2-D
- Parasternal long-axis view demonstrates an abnormal-appearing lack of continuity between the aorta and the left-sided tricuspid valve
- Apical four-chamber view confirms the diagnosis by demonstrating the abnormally inferiorly placed left atrioventricular valve in the left-sided morphologic right ventricle
